NMR structures of redox sensing by H-NOX from Vibrio cholerae
Project Investigator: Erik Yukl
Project Description: Proteins that act as environmental sensors allow bacteria to respond to their changing environment and often contribute to virulence of pathogenic species. This project seeks to determine the 3-dimensional structure of one such sensor protein from Vibrio cholerae, the causative agent of cholera, using high-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. This information will provide insight into how V. cholerae interacts with its environment and may inform the development of treatments for cholera.
