NIH Grant Review
VirtualEver wondered what happens after you submit a grant to the NIH? This webinar for research faculty at NM-INBRE institutions will provide insights into the post-submission process at the NIH. Dr. Shelley Lusetti will share experiences with grant review panels and cover the changes to peer review that will be implemented in 2025. Attendance will require registration.
Building Bridges Across NIH and the Broader Engineering Community
NIH Campus 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD, United StatesThis October, an exciting event will take place on the NIH campus, which aims to introduce extramural investigators to intramural researchers and showcase NIH resources. The event, Building Bridges Across NIH and the Broader Engineering Community, will take place on Tuesday, October 22, the day before the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) annual meeting begins, held this year in Baltimore, Maryland. This event will feature invited and abstract-driven talks, poster sessions, lab tours, panel discussions, a chance to meet program directors, and networking opportunities. More information will be provided in the coming weeks. Registration and abstract submission for this event are now open. Professors, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students are all encouraged to join us. We look forward to seeing you on October 22 in Bethesda!

Student Wellness Strategies
VirtualThis presentation will discuss strategies for supporting holistic student wellness, including opportunities for both mentors and students to engage in helpful behaviors. While higher education comes with unique challenges at times, due to student development and regular life stage changes, additional resources have been allocated at many institutions, and regular work is being done to help support student wellness, particularly student mental health. Participants will walk away with concrete strategies for supporting the wellness of themselves and those around them. Our presenter will provide suggestions on what mentors can do to help students and share some positive behaviors for students to engage in themselves. Register Here

R01, R21, and R03 NIH Funding Opportunities: Pros and Cons
VirtualThe R01, R21 and R03 are the three most common NIH Research Project Grants (RPGs). The R01 is considered the “gold standard” of NIH grants. The small R03 and exploratory/developmental R21 grants should not be considered as “mini-R01s” but rather serve a specific purpose for investigators. Our presenter has had multiple R01 and R21 grants and extensive experience reviewing these types of grant applications and will provide: A basic overview of the R01, R21 and R03 funding opportunities, including the difference between Parent Announcements (investigator-initiated) and Program Announcements/Request for Applications (PAs/RFAs). Important differences between the R01, R21 and R03 funding opportunities. Whether the R01, R21 or R03 is the right funding opportunity for your project. Register Here
