Application due by midnight (MDT) October 28th, 2024 When: November 04 – November 08, 2024 (5 days) 9 am – 4 pm Including a 1 hour break for lunch Where: Virtual (via the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR) Santa Fe, NM) Objective: Learn how to use the UNIX command line, and perform metagenomic analyses.This workshop covers analyses of 16s and whole genome shotgun metagenomic sequence data, including community analysis and assembly. Audience: This workshop is targeted towards advanced undergraduate or graduate students, and researchers in biology or related fields. Logistics: The workshop will be conducted virtually using Zoom as our conferencing platform. We will also use a variety of other software and tools, and you will log onto NCGR’s Unix analysis server for the command line tools. After the workshop, students can use our analysis server for their research or education purposes for at least one year.Selection Committee to select participants shortly after the deadline. 2025 Western Regional Meeting in Alaska

The 2025 Western Regional IDeA Conference (WRIC) is a forum for biomedical scientists to exchange knowledge with their colleagues regarding the most recent research in the NIH IDeA Western Region.  The Western IDeA states are Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming. WRIC encompasses oral and poster scientific sessions, keynote talks, professional development workshops, and information-sharing sessions with NIH officials. Alaska INBRE welcomes you to the 2025 NIH Western Regional IDeA Conference. The goal of this meeting is to provide a forum where biomedical students, scientists, and administrators will share knowledge and establish or strengthen collaborations towards building a dynamic and resilient biomedical research and training network. We are excited to highlight work in the IDeA Western Region, which includes INBRE, COBRE, and CTR programs from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming. The conference will be held at the Hotel Captain Cook in the winter city of Anchorage, Alaska, and will include keynote seminars, poster sessions, oral topic-organized breakout sessions, professional development, and IDeA program focused sessions with NIH staff.
